Laco has a long history in manufacturing professional pilot watches, as the traditional company was one of a handful of selected suppliers of so-called observation watches (“Beobachtungsuhr”) in the 1940s. The "Neapel" features the simple type A dial, which is characterised by a large hour circle and the pilot's watch triangle at the 12 o'clock position. The triangle was already used by its historical predecessors to ensure that the wearer of the watch could recognise the position of the hands at "12" with just a cursory glance, even in poor visibility and flight conditions or in stressful situations. The two dots facilitated precise setting of the time even in difficult visibility conditions.
